Tattoo

An aunt and her nephew were requesting tattoo designs that coordinated with one another.  The clients also requested that the tattoos be based on the Disney movie, Moana.

The aunt wanted the manta ray because it represented the grandmother in the movie.  Though she was not a grandmother, she had often felt like a guardian to her nephew.

Creating the second tattoo was more difficult to design.  The nephew wanted the hook shape with a shark included.  It was important to him to have aspects of his childhood present in the design.

Multiple design elements are included within both tattoos.  The heart of Te Fiti is the focal point on the handle of the hook and the center of the manta ray.

Polynesian culture and tattoo designs were influential during the creative process.
